MIX, NaMeX, TIX and TOP-IX are happy to invite you to the first edition of the Italian Peering Forum, an opportunity to meet all those who work every day for the development of Internet in Italy. Network Operators, backbone managers, vendors will have the possibility to create a permanent Forum similar to other Network Operator Groups around the world (such as NANOG). The aim of the Forum is to improve the quality and reliability of Internet in Italy.
There are multiple operators’ networks, different types of services travelling on the networks, the need of making the network apt to work with new generation applications; this requires a deeper coordination of technical activities than what happens today.
A better interaction, the exchange of ideas and technical experiences, the collective analysis of common issues, all this can contribute to give to the Italian Internet a better quality. It can also help to show that Internet is not the reign of the uncertain and the inaccurate.
The Italian Peering Forum is the right place to show that a great number of highly professional people work for the Network, to make us and the Italian Internet better, so that it can become safe and reliable for all users, just like other systems (TV, telephone) have become in the past.
The Italian Peering Forum is an initiative promoted by the four Internet Exchange Points more active in Italy. These structures need a coordination and a harmonization between the networks of all operators, so that they themselves can become part of the Network.
MIX, NaMeX, TIX and TOP-IX respond to the requests of several operators, who have expressed the need to find a ground to discuss common issues, and work for a better coordination of Network activities.
